Emma has supported me throughout my incarceration, providing ongoing support for the services I needed to organise in preparation for my release. I spent a substantial time in custody, meaning the support required to successfully reintegrate into the community would be crucial. Emma was able to provide such support. She went above and beyond to find financial counselling services, no-gap psychology counselling, and alcohol and drug services. She did an exemplary job of finding these services and provided more help than the officers and support staff inside all the correctional centres where I was housed. She was also very empathetic to my situation and was always in touch with my family and friends to make sure everything was okay. I felt she genuinely cared deep down, and to this day I find her support invaluable in the community, especially on parole.
What changed for you because of this help?
To know that someone like Emma always has your true best interests at heart is an extraordinary feeling. Throughout the journey of incarceration, she always provided encouragement and was a strong protective factor against re-offending. Overall, she is one of the rare people in a broken system who is able to carry other people's burdens on her shoulders and make sure people have the best chance at succeeding in life, especially when they have been dealt a bad hand.
Anything else you'd like to say?
There are not many professionals I have encountered in my life who go above and beyond what you would expect from them. Emma is one of them. I highly recommend that if you feel like you are drowning in a country where the social security system is failing, you consult with Emma to see what services you are truly eligible for. I am still to this day amazed at what services she found for me.
